canon rebel xti , iso400 , shutter 1/10, f/5. i was standing in my front yard and the moon and clouds were beautiful and bright .. i only manipulated color slightly ...no photo shop
good photo .Tonight I am going to give it a try as the moon will be at its closest point to earth I hope it stays dry.I keep forgetting what to do so I am preparing the camera now.

Overexposed by: Old guy
The photo is overexposed (yes, it's possible on a night shot). There is no detail in the moon, and light is ghosting into the dark night sky.
Try a manual setting on your camera. Start with the old "sunny 16 rule" you would use on a bright sunny day: f16 with a shutter speed equal to your ISO setting, or an equivalent.
Why shoot the moon as if it's a sunny day? Because the moon is the same distance from its light source (the sun) as the earth is!
