Blur, OK, to indicate motion

by Janice Rickert
(Duluth, Ga USA)

Sometimes it is OK to have a portion of your photograph to appear blurry. I wanted to show how my puppy, Fred (my Shepherd/Boxer mix) was constantly in motion in the park, as opposed to how my dog, Jett (the black dog in the middle) was still. (They were obviously a little irritated by the dirt that another dog threw in their faces).

I had the shutter speed set at 1/100 sec and f-stop f/8. It was a sunny day, so the ISO speed was ISO-100. I used my Nikon D-80 camera.
