Compare Digital Camera Features...
What are they? Which are important to Y-O-U?

"Before buying a digital camera, it's so important to compare digital camera features. Do you see yourself on this page?"
When looking to buy a camera, one of your objectives should be to compare and evaluate the digital camera features. The objective IS NOT to read as many digital camera reviews as possible.
The real challenge when you compare digital camera features is to figure out which specific camera features are the ones YOU need. It's quite interesting how people go about buying digital cameras. On one end of the spectrum is the spur-of-the-moment purchaser who spends no more than 3 nanoseconds deciding what to buy.
Then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum is the Super-Analyzer who, when they compare different features, finally reaches a decision just as the model has become obsolete. See if you can recognize yourself in this list...
- Devours no less than 25 digital camera reviews from multiple sources. They evaluate digital camera features by loading, analyzing, and prioritizing a spreadsheet program with all the data. Agonizes over the results for months.
(Very analytical, but talk about "overload!") - Determines a budget, and identifies all digital cameras within it. Then they compare digital camera features as methodically or randomly as desired.
- Looks around for the cheapest possible digital camera that functions.
(If you're thinking of doing this for a digital camera, you are probably better off buying a disposable.) - Looks around for the most expensive digital camera, because the most expensive "has to be the best."
(This assumption is correct, some of the time. The problem with applying it to digital cameras is that you probably will wind up with a phenomenal camera... that will be too complicated to operate by anyone other than a Professional.) - Shop at one retail outlet, and buy your digital camera there, based on the opinion of the sales person helping you.
(Without knowing whether monthly quotas, manufacturer incentives, or available inventory are entering into their recommendation; all you can do is find out whether you can return it without penalty, if you don't like it. Unless they really understand your needs, they can't compare digital camera features from your perspective.) - The cutest or coolest looking camera.
(Emotion does play a part in all purchases... just as long as you understand HOW BIG A PART. After all, an important camera feature to you can be how it looks. You need to realize that if this is a key feature, you should visit one store that has a HUGE selection to look at, rather than many stores that have SMALL selections.) - The one that fits easily into your pocket or purse.
(Thought I was going to scoff at this, didn't you? Surprise! When you compare digital camera features, you should only do it based on purely what's important to YOU. And, for you, this could be the most important feature.) - Who has the most flashy digital camera ads on television?
(Don't you dare!) - What does my friend/relative/co-worker/complete-stranger recommend?
(This does make the entire evaluation process easy. After all, if you don't like the digital camera, you always have someone else to blame.) - Which model has the latest technological advances?
(This is a dangerous never-ending cycle. By the time you investigate everything and compare all the features for every camera, the technology will have most likely changed again. And you'll just find yourself re-initiating the entire process.) - Look at the brand names you have had good experience with.
(Not necessarily a bad starting point to compare digital camera features.) - Which produces the best quality photograph?
(Now, that's a novel idea!)
So, did you see yourself in the list of how to compare digital camera features? Generally, people do some combination of most of the above. We tend to compare digital camera features very analytically, but we buy things emotionally. After we have a good understanding of what digital camera features are, THEN we can determine which ones are important to us, because we will know why. For example, if all you want to do is take close-ups of your children, how important will it be to you to purchase a digital camera with a telephoto lens? If you're interested in landscape and wildlife photography, there are
certain accessories
that make sense to consider.
By the time you compare digital camera features, understand them, and relate them to your needs; you will have your own "Buyer's Checklist" for the best digital camera for Y-O-U.
