Family History & Genealogy How Can We Incorporate Our Photos?
"Everyone has a family history; that's not the challenge. Easily incorporating our pictures into it is the challenge."
With all the ideas for taking better photographs of family events and other family functions, let's see if we can figure out some creative ways to use those pictures.
Wear Your Family History On Your Chest...
What could be better than wearing your family on your chest? Well, OK, being in grandpa's will is pretty good too, but that's going to happen for awhile. There is a thriving industry in customizing T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. with digital photos! The technology for doing photo shirts has existed for a long time; however, the results were not nearly as good or affordable as they are today. One of the best places that does this is Choice Shirts. Their selection is enormous and you can use your own photos! There are plenty of uses that are only limited by your imagination. Here are a few to get you started: - Family Reunion
- Babies
- Your Child's sports accomplishments
- Birthdays
- Parties and other family celebrations
- Graduations
- Scan in 30 year old photos, and use the digital file to adorn matching "His" and "Her" shirts for a silver or golden anniversary couple
- Holidays, such as Valentine's Day
- Your pet
Special Effects3>Creating a large family collage is one of the most popular ways there is to capture the history of your family in a striking format.
Genealogy
Speaking of 100 years of family history (nice lead in, huh?), a very hot topic for the last few years has been genealogy. Can you think of any better way to record and remember your family history than with photographs?
Digital Backgrounds
There has never been a better time to spruce up your family history by converting your old family movies to DVD, as well as recording new family sagas. With the different software that exists, there are plenty of opportunity for digital files. You can use photographs as backgrounds for movies, icons, buttons, pop-ups... just about everywhere. And don't forget that it's pretty easy to insert titles and captions with photo editing software, or even through old standard business programs like Microsoft's PowerPoint. The internet is probably your best source to find what you're looking for; and don't ignore the sponsored links. I find some great stuff there, too.
