Fishing Village in Malta

by John Alvarez
(Tampa, FL USA)

Date taken: 24 June 2008
Location: Marsaxlokk, Malta
Equipment: Nikon D70s, 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Nikkor AF-S lens
Aperture: f/9.5
Shutter Speed: 1/350
ISO: 320

We visited the fishing village of Marsaxlokk (try saying it three times in a row quickly) as part of a tour of Malta, during a cruise of the Mediterranean in June, 2008. The colorful boats contrasted well with the green of the sea and the deep blue of the sky. It was close to midday, so the shot required that I position myself to avoid the harsh sun. Fortunately, I did not end up in the water, despite a few close calls. I think the Maltese fishermen became convinced that I had lost my mind in the hot sun. They were only partly correct.
