Friends

by George E Givens Jr
(Indianapolis, Indiana, USA)

This group portrait pose was pretty much a no-brainer since it was all couples.

The challenges were that I had to be in the picture (that's me in the red shirt) standing next to my wife; taking the picture quickly with a minimum of fuss and with only an external flash because I didn't have time to pull out my studio lights; getting everyone to be relatively still so I could drag the shutter to get the ambient light of the lamp and everyone looking at the camera while I ran back to the group to get into my position before the 10 second timer expired.

The photo was taken with an Olympus C5050 with a 1.8 aspherical glass 3x zoom lens 7.1mm-23mm
(35-105mm equivalent in 35mm photography) Date/Time: 2004:07:15 23:18:51 Image size: 2559 x 1828.

When taking pics of people, have turn a little one way or another. When both of their shoulders are straight towards the camera, it makes them look too rigid (bigger, too).

I love it. But then again I took and I'm in it so what's not to love, right? :-)
