Mount Rainier Sunset

Mount Rainier Sunset

Nikon D40 w/ Nikon 18-200 VR
Exposure 1/200
Focal length 200mm
F5.6
ISO 800
Taken 6-18-2008 at Rye Grass Rest Area
I-90 West Bound
Ellensburg, Washington USA from the East looking west.

I was driving home from eastern Washington when I saw some of the most beautiful wind swept cloud formations being lit up by the sun as it was going down. I drove as fast as I could to get to the rest stop at the top of Rye Grass hill. I didn’t have much time to mess around with a tripod or camera settings. I snapped the shot hand held while standing on top of a picnic table. When I got home and showed it to my wife she told me it was the nicest mountain sunset she’d ever seen.
