Photojournalistic
Wedding Photography...

Have your wedding cake
and eat it too

We only do photojournalistic wedding photography. That may sound strange for someone in the Chicago wedding photography business, but allow me to provide you with some background.

The Bride is Always Right

Each wedding is unique as the bride. (Sorry guys, but everyone does know who the wedding is really for.)

I would no sooner try to convince a bride that she should use a photojournalistic wedding photography style than I would ask her to trade in her wedding dress for jeans and a sweatshirt.

And, don't worry because that's not what we're trying to do.

Who is that Photographer with a Cape?

Your traditional wedding photographer has a daunting assignment.

First of all, weddings, like similar once-in-a-lifetime situations mean there are no second chances.

At a minimum, outstanding photographic technical competency is a given.

On top of this, your traditional non-photojournalistic wedding photographer should have the compositional skills of a Hollywood director, the patience of a saint, be un-obtrusive as a ninja, and possess an intuitive sensitivity for the overall situation.

And these are just the basics! Add to this the ability to simultaneously take outstanding posed, semi-posed, and photojournalistic wedding photography shots of every single person at the wedding (ok, not quite every person), and you have "Superman with a Nikon."

Back to the Point

Brides and Grooms entrust the wedding photographer with all this and rightfully expect beautiful wedding images that outlast their memories and grace the walls of their homes. That is your traditional Chicago wedding photographer.

So, what’s my point? Actually, there are two points:

  1. Many brides and grooms admit after the wedding is over, that their favorite photographs are the photojournalistic ones (or, as many categorize them... candids).

  2. To take spectacular (or even good) photojournalistic wedding photographs requires focus, talent, and time.

If you plan on having ONE photographer cover your entire wedding, they have a daunting task.

You need to understand up front that you will probably get numerous outstanding traditional wedding pictures and A FEW terrific photojournalistic wedding photographs, but you won’t get a lot of BOTH TYPES!

Not unless you are having less than 25 total people at your wedding. Or - you use more than one Chicago wedding photographer.

And this is the reason I have stopped doing traditional Chicago wedding photography and only perform photojournalistic wedding photography.

Wrap Up

There you have it. If you want those emotion-filled shots that are un-posed, I would be happy to do your wedding photography… but only the photojournalistic wedding photography.

My strong suggestion is to have a traditional Chicago wedding photographer take all the other must-have shots.

Because we realize that people don’t have unlimited wedding photography budgets, we have priced the photojournalistic wedding photography package to be very affordable.
