Problem photographing red things

by Kelli
(CA)

When I take pics of red things, they come out "wavy" using my otherwise great camera.

Meringue (spelling?) Effect
by: Anonymous

If your getting a wavy effect on the shirt, it's due to the sensors in digital cameras. It's called a meringue effect. I know my spelling for this effect is incorrect, but you can correct it in photoshop. I believe you do the following steps. Make a background copy of your image and change your layer setting from normal to color. Click on the red area of your shirt & start painting over the wavy areas. Then merge your layers together. You can also click the help button in photoshop to find specific answers to your problem.

Vivid setting?
by: Marty

Try to find an adjustment on your camera for color or saturation. See if anything says natural or vivid. Pick natural and try it again.
Vivid is great for making a bland picture stand out, but bright reds often stand out too much already.
Good luck.
