Need Long Telephoto

This is a very good photo - composition, clarity, subject, etc. I'll guess that because the planes were far away, even a telephoto lens only brings them in so much.

To get a larger image, you'd need something like a prime lens, 400mm at a minimum, tripod mounted for sharpness (downside of fast moving objects).

Don't be discouraged - not with this shot anyway!
