Spiny Green Caterpillar

by Janice Rickert
(Duluth, Ga USA)

I was in my yard, picking up limbs, and came across the largest caterpillar I have ever seen! -- the width of my thumb and twice as long. I don't know the name of it, but if anyone visiting here knows, I invite you to comment. I made this photo with my Nikon D80 Camera, and a Nikon DX 18 to 55mm lens. ISO 100, F/11, Exposure time 1/100 sec, max aperture 4.3 (should have been wider, because I needed to have the whole caterpillar in focus). The photo was too dark, so I lightened it with Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.
