Whitemarked Tussock Moth Caterpillar

by Janice Rickert
(Duluth, Ga USA)

Caution! I am poisonous!!

Caution! I am poisonous!!

I noticed this caterpillar in my yard and very carefully photographed it. I set up my Nikon D80 camera on a tripod and waited for the calm wind to die down to nothing. I actually had to take 8 pictures before getting this one. If you live in Georgia and see this caterpillar Don't Touch It!! It is poisonous, and can make some people sick!!
Nikon D80
ISO 200
F/7.1
Exposure Time 1/320 sec
Focal Length 55mm
No Flash
I clarified the photo and sharpened it, then adjusted the color balance in post processing with Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.
