This un-retouched digital photo was taken on 10/24/2007 at Shoreline Park in the city of Santa Barbara, CA.

The huge inland Zaka fire was just being contained and the off shore wind carried the smoke over the Santa Barbara area and the Pacific ocean, creating this fantastic sunset.

The photo is one of a series taken that evening as part of an assignment from a City College Photojournalism class to take a night shot (no flash).

I started out knowing that the sunset would be great and progressed into the city streets to complete the assignment.
